2008 Reports

  • Built 16 new single family homes and renovated 20 homes in the Partnership Park Neighborhood.
  • Since 2004 we have rehabbed 22 affordable rental units in Hillsdale and Lenawee counties.
  • In the past seven years we've rehabbed 97 homes with loans over $1.3 million through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
  • CAA weatherized 5,505 homes in our tri-county area since program inception (131 in 2007) reducing utility bills by $1.9 million annually.
  • 618 tri-county residents have participated in energy classes since 2004 learning to think green.
  • Farmers Market started weekly in summer to support the Lenawee WIC Project Fresh and local neighborhood.
  • Community Dispute Resolution mediated 279 cases to save on court costs using 16 volunteer mediators.
  • The Lenawee Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition helps prevent and reduce alcohol & drug abuse. The Coalition received an award for outstanding structual development in 2006 and doubled their funding in 2007.
  • Over 1,000 three & four year old children were enrolled in Head Start and Great Start School Readiness in Jackson and Hillsdale counties.
  • The Hillsdale Elementary Success Program worked with 50 at risk school age children and their families to increase school success.
  • 261 audlts improved their reading, writing, math and communication skills with the help of volunteer tutors in our Literacy Program. Literacy Volunteers logged 2,025 hours in 2008.
  • 85 English learners, enrolled in our English as a Second Language classes in 2008.
  • Lenawee WIC improved the nutrition of more than 2,029 women, infants & children with $1,397,500 in health food purchases at local grocery stores.
  • CAA's part-time Lenawee Medical Clinic successfully transitioned into a full-time Federally Qualified Health Clinic in 2008.
  • Leanwee Medical Clinic doctors & nurses provided thousands of uninsured individuals with medical services and o ver $1 million worth of prescription medications since 1968. 
  •   26 young people through the YouthBuild Program began construction on a house in the Partnership Park Neighborhood.
  • Over 790 tri-county residents received $171,200 in emergency assistance.
  • Through our matched savings accounts (Individual Development Accounts - IDA) since 2001: 51 new homeowners, 5 new business start ups, 5 students attending college representing $4.4 million investment in our community.
  • 2,372 families received $2,183,221 in tax refunds and credits in 2007.
  • Since 2001, 7457 tax returns for our families were prepared representing $6,759,721 in tax refunds and credits.
  • Since the beginning of the program 153 people have completed Financial Freedom classes, reducing overall debt and improving credit scores.
