Fair Housing Education Community Action Agency staffs a local fair housing office to serve residents of Jackson County, Michigan.
The goals of this project are to:
- promote awareness of fair housing laws and promote awareness that remedies for violations are available;
- reduce segregation in housing County wide;
- increase minority homeownership; and
- improve the availability of accessible housing for disabled households in the County.
Services will include outreach in multiple formats, education through workshops, complaint intakes, and appropriate referrals on fair housing complaints, education and counseling on homebuyer rights- including education on predatory lending and Energy Star efficiencies.
The project will also work in partnership with the disability community to create baseline data documenting the unmet housing needs of the disabled, and to create an accessible housing inventory for use in securing accessible housing.
