Head Start
Helps kids age 3 to 5 get a jump start on the basics before attending kindergarten.
This program is available in JACKSON and HILLSDALE counties. Children who complete Head Start are prepared for kindergarten, excited about learning, confident in their own abilities and ready to succeed. We offer two programs to best suit their needs:

Center Based: held four half days a week, three and a half hours per day.
Full Day: held five days a week, for a minimum of 8 hours per day.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom, to serve on the Policy Council as part of our planning and decision making body, and to become an active, effective community participant. Parent meetings are held on such topics as:

- Child Development
- Health and Nutrition
- Self Esteem
- Literacy
- And much much more!

SUCCESS STORIES
"I think Head Start is wonderful! It has helped Darrian to feel more independent as well as to learn and practice social skills. His listening and following directions have really improved; discipline is much easier to enforce. Head Start has made it fun for our son. It's not too stressful and he can play with kids his own age."
- Home visit parent Karen

"Without Head Start, child care would cost me another $400 per month, something that would break my budget," says Anne, mother of Head Start four-year-old Seth. "But more importantly, it would cost me time with my son. Now we have breakfast together and we talk about what he is going to do that day. While he is at Head Start, I know he is with people who truly care about him and will act entirely in his best interest."
- Anne Killian, Head Start parent
