Weatherization
This program is available in Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties.
Overview
The Weatherization Program provides energy related services to low income home owners and renters in Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties. Eligible residents may have their homes insulated, receive health and safety measures, cold air infiltration measures such as caulking, weather-stripping of leaky doors and repairing windows and other minor repairs or improvements necessary for energy efficiency.

In addition to the same weatherization services, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), when funding is available, may provide roof, furnace, or water heater repairs and replacements to eligible homeowners only.
Since 1976, Community Action has provided weatherization to over 4,400 homes in Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties.

Who Is Eligible?
Low income homeowners and renters are eligible for the Weatherization Program and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Additional Program Information
The Weatherization Program provides the following for eligible residents:

  • Insulation
  • Health & Safety Measures
  • Cold Air Infiltration Measures
  • Minor Repairs necessary for Energy Efficiency

To apply for the program:

1. Schedule an appointment to complete a Weatherization Program application.

2. If you are income eligible and your home has not been weatherized in the last 10 years, a pre-inspector will schedule an inspection of your home.

3. If your home is eligible based on your weatherization needs, a weatherization contractor will schedule the work to be performed.

4. Upon completion, a post-inspector will schedule an inspection of your home to evaluate the weatherization measures installed and make sure you are satisfied with the work performed.
