Early Head Start is available for Jackson and Hillsdale counties.

Early Head Start (EHS) is a FREE home-based program for pregnant women, children ages 0 – 3, and their families. During weekly home visits, EHS Home Visitors focus on play with parents and their children because play is the “work” of babies that helps them grow and become ready for preschool and other learning experiences.

Home Visitors help parents strengthen their parenting skills and their relationship with their child to prepare them for later success in school and life.

Weekly home visits may include:

  • Parent and child play activities
  • Child development information and suggestions to encourage learning throughout the week
  • Help with accessing other community services
  • Support in reaching family goals

Play groups and other social activities are available for each child and family on a regular basis.
