Lenawee County WIC families are invited to attend one of the FREE Food Preservation Workshops presented by CAA WIC and MSU Extension.

Participants will learn how to stretch their food budget further by understanding the basics of canning, freezing, and drying fresh foods so they can be enjoyed all year long!

Class participants will receive basic tools for easy preserving, including a hot water bath canner.

WIC Program Manager Brooke Long says that there are many benefits to attending one of these classes. “Learning how to preserve food can reduce food waste, the amount of waste in landfills, and our environmental footprint. We’re happy to partner with MSU Extension to provide WIC families with this fun and interactive, hands-on learning experience.”

Three identical class opportunities will be offered from 9:30 a.m. – Noon on the following dates:

  • August 2nd – at the MSU Extension Office, located at 1040 S. Winter St., (Suite 2020) in Adrian.
  • August 16th – at Promedica Farms, located at 1201 Shepherd Rd. in Tecumseh.
  • September 6th – at Promedica Farms, located at 1201 Shepherd Rd. in Tecumseh.

Interested persons should RSVP for any one of the classes no later than July 25, 2023 by calling WIC at CAA at (517) 263-7861, ext. 2235. Or send email to: blong@caajlh.org
