Thanks to a grant from the Department of Labor, Community Action is proud to be one of three YouthBuild Programs in the state of Michigan.
Through a partnership with Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity and Family Service & Children’s Aid of Jackson, YouthBuild provides the opportunity for Jackson youth ages 16 – 24 who are struggling in school (or may have already dropped out) the opportunity to earn a High School diploma or GED while at the same time learning valuable skills in construction and related trades. YouthBuild participants also receive mentoring in the “soft-skills” employers desire and expect such as: leadership, commitment, punctuality, and respect.
